SETUP


Step 1. Connections


Connect the APC 20 to a USB port of your computer using the provided USB cable.

Step 2. Drivers


No drivers is required to be installed. The APC 20 is a USB class compliant device and your Operating System will install the necessary drivers.


Step 3. VirtualDJ


Install VirtualDJ 8 from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html (in case you have not done already)

Start VirtualDJ and login with your Account credentials. A Pro Infinity, Pro Subscription or Plus AKAI APC20 Controller License is required. http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Detection Window
A detection window will appear when the unit is first connected with VirtualDJ, verifying proper connection.

Click to OK



The unit is now ready to operate with VirtualDJ

Hold this button down to access secondary actions as described in the SHIFT ACTION column.
D NOTE MODE
Toggles Deck selection between Left and Right. If more than 2 decks are used, will cycle deck selection through the available decks.
Toggles between the Group (LED Off) and Column (LED On) Volumes modes
1 PADS 1-40
Trigger Samples 1 to 40 from the selected Sampler Bank.
LEDs will be turned off if no Sample is loaded to a Sampler slot, orange if loaded but not playing and green when playing.
Stops the Sample loaded to Sampler slots 1 to 40. Useful when the Stutter or the Un-mute trigger modes are selected
2 SCENE LAUNCH 1-5
Directly select and load Sampler Banks 1 to 5
3 CLIP STOP 1-8
Stops all Samples playing from Columns 1 to 8
Stop all playing Samples
4 NAVIGATION 1-8
1. PLAY : Plays/pauses the selected Deck.
2. CUE : Sets a temporary Cue at the current position of the selected deck and previews while pressed. If playing, stops at the position of the temporary Cue.
3. REC : Record Master Output to a new Sample (can be found in the Recordings Sampler folder)
4. MIDI/OVERDUB: Toggles between List and Grid View on the Sampler Sideview window
5. LEFT : Selects the previous available Sampler Trigger mode (On/Off, Hold, Stutter & Un-mute)
6. RIGHT : Selects the next available Sampler Trigger mode (On/Off, Hold, Stutter & Un-mute)
7. UP : Selects the previous available Sampler Sampler Bank
8. DOWN : Selects the next available Sampler Sampler Bank
1. PLAY : Play-stutter the selected Deck.
2. CUE : Stops the selected deck at the last triggered Cue. If stopped, cycles through the available Cues
4. MIDI/OVERDUB : Opens/closes Sideview Sampler window
5 ACTIVATE 1-8
1/5 : Selects the previous available Pad Page on the Left/Right Deck.
2/6 : Selects the next available Pad Page on the Left/Right Deck.
3/7 : Decreases the 1st Parameter of the selected Pad Page (if available) on the Left/Right Deck.
4/8 Increases the 1st Parameter of the selected Pad Page (if available) on the Left/Right Deck.
3/7 : Decreases the 2nd Parameter of the selected Pad Page (if available) on the Left/Right Deck.
4/8 Increases the 2nd Parameter of the selected Pad Page (if available) on the Left/Right Deck.
6 SOLO 1-8
Trigger the action assigned to Pads 1 to 8 depending on the selected Pad Page on the Left Deck. See Pads in VirtualDJ Manual for further details.
Trigger the SHIFT action assigned to Pads 1 to 8 depending on the selected Pad Page on the Left Deck. See Pads in VirtualDJ Manual for further details.
7 ARM 1-8
Trigger the action assigned to Pads 1 to 8 depending on the selected Pad Page on the Right Deck. See Pads in VirtualDJ Manual for further details.
Trigger the SHIFT action assigned to Pads 1 to 8 depending on the selected Pad Page on the Right Deck. See Pads in VirtualDJ Manual for further details.
8 VOLUME 1-8
In Group Volume mode : Adjust the Volume of the Sampler Groups 1 to 8. See Sampler Groups in VirtualDJ Manual for further details.

In Column Volume mode : Adjust the Volume of the Samples on Columns 1 to 8 of the Sampler matrix.

Toggle between Group and Column Volume mode using SHIFT+NOTE MODE button

9 MASTER VOL
Adjust the Master Output Volume of Sampler
.
10 CUE VOL
Adjust the Output of the Headphones Channel (if any is defined in Audio Setup)
Blends audio between the Decks sent to the Headphones channel (via the PFL buttons of the used skin or a different controller) and the Master Output (Headphones Mix)
